North Korea tests 26,720 people for COVID-19, reports no positive cases

The country continues to claim it’s COVID-free while intermittently reporting numbers to the World Health Organization

After testing a cumulative total of 26,720 people, North Korea again claimed to have zero confirmed COVID-19 cases, according to a new report from the World Health Organization (WHO).

Over 10 days from April 26, North Korea reportedly tested 734 people for COVID-19, with a total of 53,166 samples tested as of May 6. Every test during this period came up negative, including the 143 people that had “influenza-like illness and/or severe acute respiratory infections,” according to the WHO report. North Korea self-reports COVID-19 related statistics to the organization.
