Photos: North Koreans dance, dine and dress up on Lunar New Year

In past years, North Korean state media showed off rice cakes and traditional garb at “Seollal” celebrations

Both North and South Korea are celebrating Lunar New Year this week, kicking off a longtime tradition that often involves family gatherings and elaborate feasts.

On Friday, the North Korean propaganda outlet Voice of Korea stated that some citizens living in the capital city visited statues of leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, while the state-run Rodong Sinmun said that some restaurants prepared traditional dishes for Pyongyang residents.
