US Ambassador to South Korea announces the end of his controversial tenure

After two and a half years, Harry Harris will serve his final day as ambassador on Jan. 20

U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Harry Harris will be leaving his post later this month, marking the end of his controversial tenure in Seoul.

On Wednesday, Harris announced his departure on Twitter, confirming a previous April 2020 report from Reuters. A U.S. Embassy spokesperson confirmed to NK News that his final day in the role will be Jan. 20, with Rob Rapson serving as Charge d’Affaires ad interim until a new ambassador arrives.
