State Department pick suggests further departure from Trump’s North Korea policy

Jung H. Pak announced that she’ll be deputy assistant secretary for East Asian and Pacific affairs

Jung H. Pak, a well-known North Korea specialist and former Central Intelligence Agency official, has been tapped to work as a top foreign policy aide for President Joe Biden’s administration.

On Wednesday, Pak announced her new role as the U.S. State Department’s deputy assistant secretary for East Asian and Pacific affairs. She tweeted that it’s an “honor to be able to serve the American people again in this new capacity and work with the dream team.”
