A North Korean captain has been sentenced to one and a half years in a corrective labor colony for illegal crab poaching, Russia’s Interfax news agency reported Tuesday. 

According to Khasansky District Court documents, which do not name the nationality of defendant “Ri, Z. Yu,” the captain was sentenced last month for crossing the border without valid documents and “illegal extraction of aquatic biological resources.” 

The captain was apprehended along with six crewmembers by border guards off the Primorye coast on November 2, with 1,180 snow crabs onboard their fishing vessel, they added.
