Japanese PM reaffirms commitment to resolving North Korea abductee issue

Shinzo Abe apologizes for lack of progress in returning Japanese citizens abducted from the DPRK

The Japanese Prime Minister on Wednesday reaffirmed his government's commitment to the repatriation of citizens kidnapped by North Korea, in the wake of the death last week of a long-time activist for the abductee cause.

Speaking to the Budget Committee of the Japanese House of Representatives, Shinzo Abe apologized for lack of progress on the issue.
