Influential North Korean overseas official running illegal fishing permit scheme

Choe Un Bok heads up influential General Association of Koreans, runs operations out of DPRK's Dandong consulate

A Dandong-based North Korean operation tasked with the illegal sale of fishing rights in the country's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) is likely being led by Choe Un Bok, the influential Chairwoman of the General Association of Koreans in China (GAKC), investigation by NK News suggests.

Footage from an exclusive documentary released by France 24 last week also revealed the location of the offices from which she brokers the illegal permit sales is a high-rise that houses many DPRK businesses in Dandong and also serves as the site of the private offices of the country's consulate in the city.
