North Korean embassy-linked Berlin hostel must be shut down, German court rules

Administrative court upholds 2018 decision shutting City Hostel down, says it violates EU sanctions against DPRK

A Berlin hostel located on the same property as North Korea's embassy to Germany must close, a court in the city ruled on Tuesday, arguing that its continued operations constituted a violation of international and EU sanctions against the DPRK.

The City Hostel -- previously run by a third party on agreement with the DPRK embassy on a rental contract of EUR 38,000 per month -- had originally been ordered shut in November 2018 by local law enforcement.
