U.S. point man on North Korea tapped to serve as deputy secretary of state

Stephen Biegun expected to continue to serve as Special Representative to DPRK alongside new job

Stephen Biegun, the longtime U.S. Special Representative for North Korea, has been nominated to serve as Deputy Secretary of State, a notice from the White House showed on Thursday.

Biegun has served as the U.S.'s top diplomat working on North Korea policy since August last year, and is expected to continue to hold the position in his new role as number two in the State Department.
