Eyeing economic cooperation, South Korea seeks better geographic data on North

Project also aims to collect spatial information on regions bordering China, Russia

The South Korean government is set to fund research into new ways to gather geographic information about North Korea that can be practically used in inter-Korean economic cooperation and infrastructure construction projects, proposals recently showed.

The National Geographic Information Institute (NGII) last week announced a proposal for “Research on the establishment of a roadmap for spatial information to support infrastructure construction in a unified Korean peninsula.”
