North Korea stands at a “historical turning point,” the country’s highest-circulation newspaper said on Monday, warning party officials against “falling into a swamp of defeatism” in fulfilling the goals of the ruling party’s five-year strategy for national economic development.

In an editorial that comes just nine days before an expected U.S.-DPRK summit in Hanoi, the Rodong Sinmun said the country stood at a “crucial moment.”

“The DPRK… leaps forward toward a powerful socialist country,” the newspaper, which serves as the chief organ for the DPRK’s ruling party, reported, urging officials to “vigorously run toward a higher goal, tying up our shoelaces once again”
