The South Korean Presidential office on Wednesday called on the U.S. and North Korea to use an upcoming summit in Vietnam to take steps toward “concrete and substantive progress” towards denuclearization.

Speaking in a press briefing, Presidential spokesperson Kim Eui-keum said Seoul “welcomed” Tuesday’s announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump that the next DPRK-U.S. summit will take place in Vietnam on February 27-28.

“The two leaders already took the first step towards settling the 70-year history of hostility in Singapore,” Kim told journalists.

“We hope that both will take steps towards more concrete and substantive progress in Vietnam.”
