North Korea’s ambassador to the UN in Geneva on Tuesday said relations with Washington could improve quickly if the U.S. responded to Pyongyang’s “efforts with trustworthy measures.”

Speaking at UN-sponsored conference on disarmament, Ambassador Han Tae Song indicated that diplomatic progress hinged on actions from Washington.

“Accordingly we declared that we would neither make and test nuclear weapons any longer nor use and proliferate them and we have taken various practical measures,” Han said in comments carried by Reuters.
