U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Wednesday said Washington was prepared to immediately engage with North Korea to get negotiations back on track.

Pompeo made the remarks via a statement issued on the State Department’s website, adding he had invited the DPRK’s foreign minister for a meeting in New York next week.

The statement comes on the heels of agreements made by South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang earlier on Wednesday.
