Malaysia will reopen its embassy in North Korea, the country’s Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said on Monday during an interview with Japanese press.
Speaking to NK News on Tuesday, the country’s foreign ministry confirmed the news, though had not provided further details at the time of writing.
“Yes, we will reopen the embassy,” Mohamad said in comments carried by the Nikkei Asian Review.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries soured after Kim Jong Un’s half-brother Kim Jong Nam was assassinated Kuala Lumpur airport with a chemical weapon in February 2017.[/p
