China only exported a few hundred tons of oil products to North Korea in April, a major reduction compared to the previous month, according to figures provided to the UN’s 1718 Committee.

UN Resolution 2397, passed at the end of last year, limited how much crude and refined oil member states can ship to the DPRK, while also adding export reporting requirements.

The numbers posted on the 1718 Committee website indicate that China’s refined oil shipments to the DPRK fell to just 437.46 tonnes in April, around a fifth of their March equivalents.
