The South Korean Ministry of Unification (MOU) plans to push ahead with a “confidential project” measuring North Korea’s likelihood of collapse and is seeking a subcontractor for the year, a bid seen by NK News shows.

The project, known as the North Korea Situation Index, was launched in 2010, and aims to “support objective analyses and predictions of the North Korea situation.”

The results of the research have never been made available to the public.

The index is assessed in Stability, Crisis, and Regime Transition categories, the MOU-issued White Paper on Korean Unification for the year 2013 said.
