Why some North Korean defectors choose not to live in the South

Discrimination in the ROK drives some to third countries

As most of our readers are aware, over 31,000 North Korean refugees have arrived in South Korea since the 1953 Armistice. Most still reside in the ROK, but a number of refugees, upon their arrival to South Korea, choose to move to third countries.
