No cash prize to DPRK national teams in event of victory in EAFF tournament: JFA

Officials say sanctions prevent either North Korean team receiving USD$70,000-250,000 prize

The East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) will not award either of North Korea's national football teams a cash prize in event of a victory in the 2017 EAFF E-1 Football Championship, an official from the Japanese Football Association (JFA) confirmed to NK News on Friday.

Citing concerns about international sanctions, Tashima Kohzo, president of the JFA, previously said the women's DPRK team, which beat the Chinese team 2-0 in a match at 1610 local time today, will not receive the expected USD$70,000 prize money if they win the tournament.
