Burkina Faso’s foreign minister on Wednesday said the country would ban imports from North Korea to conform with UN resolutions targeting the DPRK.

Minister Alpha Barry said the move comes in response to a reminder from Washington in October, asking why Burkina Faso was still trading with North Korea.

“Following this inquiry, we conducted a thorough investigation at the commerce ministry and at the level of the finance department and found that there were economic operators importing from North Korea,” Barry said in comments carried by the Daily Nation.
