The South Korean government on Friday announced plans to provide financial support to companies formerly based at the Kaesong Industrial Complex (KIC) and involved in other inter-Korean projects.

“The government has provided supporting measures for companies in Kaesong Industrial Complex as well as involved in inter-Korean economic cooperation… to fulfill the enhanced state responsibility,” Vice Minister of Unification Chun Hae-sung said at a special news conference.

Chun told reporters the companies “underwent unexpected difficulties due to the sudden change of the policies” by previous administrations.

The Ministry of Unification (MOU) said Seoul would offer a total of KRW66 billion (USD$59
