Germany will be withdrawing a diplomat from its embassy in Pyongyang in response to North Korea’s latest launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) this week, the German foreign minister announced on Thursday.

Sigmar Gabriel announced the decision to reporters following a meeting in Washington D.C. with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

“We have already reduced our embassy staff in North Korea and will do so once more,” French newswire Agence France-Presse (AFP) quoted Gabriel as saying. 

“We have also told the North Koreans that they will have to reduce their embassy staff…We are thus increasing the diplomatic pressure,”
