A North Korean company has rolled out a heart rate monitor application for smartphone users, the Pyongyang-linked Arirang-Meari website reported on Thursday.

The online program provides “clear-cut diagnosis and prescription after monitoring the electrocardiogram (ECG) data in real time via mobile phone and automatic analysis.”

Data is fed into the application from a home-use ECG device, which is used in combination with the cell phone.

“This program alerts abnormalities including cardiac death in advance,” Arirang-Meari said.

The app also can “predict a dangerous day and check pulse, unequal heartbeat and ischemic heart disease by using analysis function.”
