North Korea launched an "ICBM class" ballistic missile which flew over 1000km towards Japan late on Friday, according to South Korea media reports citing the country's military.
The comments were later echoed by Pentagon spokesman Jeff Davis, who added the missile flew on a lofted trajectory and was an intercontinental ballistic missile.
