An op-ed in a North Korean state-run outlet on Friday dismissed a recent major policy announcement by Seoul, accusing South Korea of attempting a “cunning” plan to force Pyongyang’s denuclearization under the guise of “reconciliation and cooperation.”

President Moon Jae-in last week said his administration would seek to sign a peace treaty with the North and achieve the denuclearization of the peninsula by 2020.

The editorial in DPRK Today insisted, however, that the DPRK will not give up its nuclear weapons in the current circumstances and rejected what it called the South’s plans for “unification by absorption.”
