UN Special Rapporteur urges two Koreas to hold family reunions

Meetings should go ahead "without conditions", says Tomas Ojea Quintana

The UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has urged both North and South Korea to stage a reunion for families separated by the Korean War, a statement issued by the UN said on Tuesday.

The statement made by Tomas Ojea Quintana echoes a June 5 announcement by lawmakers in the South Korean National Assembly of their intention to introduce a resolution urging Seoul and Pyongyang to agree to hold meetings in August.
