Chinese imports of North Korean goods increased in May, though remained low due to the ongoing absence of coal, according to trade figures seen by Reuters.

The May figures released by Beijing’s General Administration of Customs show imports increasing from $99.3 million in April to $123.8 million the following month.

In February China announced it would no longer import North Korean coal, in accordance with UN Resolution 2321 passed in November which set a quota on member states importing the DPRK’s most lucrative commodity.
