Moon: Denuclearizing N. Korea only possible with strong alliance

South Korean President, U.S. lawmakers say Washington, Seoul have shared goals

Newly elected South Korean President Moon Jae-in struck a positive note on North Korea in meetings with U.S. congressional leaders on Thursday, saying denuclearizing North Korea was only possible with a strong alliance between Washington and Seoul.

Moon is on his first official visit since being elected in early May. The South Korean leader will be in Washington for four days, with North Korea expected to top the agenda during discussions with President Trump scheduled for Thursday evening.
