North Korean leader Kim Jong Un supervised the test-firing of newly-developed anti-ship cruise missiles, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Friday. North Korea launched multiple missiles towards the Sea of Japan (East Sea) from near the eastern coastal city of Wonsan in Gangwon Province at 0618 KST yesterday, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said on Thursday morning. JCS said yesterday that projectiles were presumed to be short-range anti-ship cruise missiles, and that they flew around 200km with a “maximum altitude” of 2km.
