Newly-elected South Korean President Moon Jae-in and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump spoke by phone on Wednesday following the South Korean elections this week, according to statements from both governments.

During their first communication, according to the South Korean Presidential Office, the two leaders discussed the issue of North Korea’s ongoing nuclear program and agreed to cooperate in resolving it.

Both leaders “agreed on close cooperation in resolving security concerns on the Korean peninsula including North Korea’s nuclear ambitions,” the Blue House said in a statement translated by AFP.

But the White House statement was a little broader in scope
