Japan and the U.S. will cooperate on enhanced North Korea sanctions, targeting entities that help the North’s weapons programs according to a White House press release issued on Friday.

The announcement follows a meeting between Presidents Trump and Abe in Italy prior to the G7 summit.

“President Trump and Prime Minister Abe agreed their teams would cooperate to enhance sanctions on North Korea, including by identifying and sanctioning entities that support North Korea’s ballistic missile and nuclear programs,” the press release reads.

The statement added the U.S. administration would work with Seoul and Tokyo to increase international pressure on the DPRK.
