U.S. seeks peaceful North Korea solution, but will defend itself: White House

Washington will look to increase sanctions and economic pressure on the DPRK, says Tillerson

Washington is seeking a peaceful solution to threats presented by the North Korea's nuclear program, though it will "not hesitate" to defend itself or its allies, the administration said in a statement following a White House briefing on Wednesday.

The meeting was unusual: all 100 U.S. senators were invited to attend the classified briefing hosted by Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
