UN PoE finds N. Korea continues to sell military, sanctioned items

Report finds that North Korea is becoming more adept at evading sanctions

North Korea has continued to sell weapons and prohibited items abroad, despite a stricter sanctions regime beginning in March last year, a report by a UN Panel of Experts (PoE) on the North’s illicit activities - obtained by NK News ahead of its official release later this month - reads.

The PoE investigated possible sanctions breaches and interdictions in Egypt, Russia, Mozambique, Sudan, Eritrea, Malaysia, and China, concluding that the DPRK is using “evasion techniques that are increasing in scale, scope and sophistication” to counter tightening UN restrictions.
