A new UN Security Council (UNSC) Resolution will place a cap on North Korea’s coal exports, news outlets in Tokyo and New York reported on Wednesday.

The reports said Washington and Beijing had agreed to terms for a draft resolution which would limit the DPRK’s most valuable export and close some of the loopholes in Resolution 2270 passed in March.

The latest UN measures are in response to the DPRK’s nuclear test in September this year, with the slow progress attributed to a deadlock between the U.S. and China.
