The North Korean Ambassador to the UK, Hyon Hak Bong, will be returning to Pyongyang from London imminently, a source familiar with DPRK affairs told NK News on Wednesday.

Hyon’s fate at the embassy was the subject of media speculation in the immediate aftermath of the high-profile defection of his deputy, Thae Yong Ho, which was made public in August.

“The North Korean Ambassador to the UK, Hyon, is on the verge of returning to Pyongyang in the coming days,” the source told NK News on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitivities surrounding the case.
