North Korea’s top diplomat visits Congo, aiming to step up cooperation

Visit may be part of broader effort to rebuild economic ties with African nations

The ruling party of the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Sunday rolled out the red carpet for North Korea’s top diplomat Ri Su Yong, who arrived in the capital city of Kinshasa, state media outlet the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Monday.

Ri was greeted by a senior official of Congo's People's Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD) and told that both countries could have in-depth discussions to step-up cooperation and exchanges, KCNA added.
