North Korea on Thursday published a letter that it claimed was sent to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon earlier in the week, calling for Ban’s participation in improving inter-Korean relations.

In the letter Pyongyang said the UN chief could be “recorded in history” for his peace-building efforts on the Korean Peninsula.

“The UN is treating North Korea badly … backed by the U.S. that seeks the permanent division of the Korean peninsula, not its reunification,” the letter published by the Korea Central News Agency on Wednesday reads.
