Amid the ongoing 7th Congress of the Workers Party of Korea, Pyongyang on Friday responded positively to South Korean trade unions’ proposal to organize inter-Korean football matches.

As the South Korean unions’ suggested, North Korea agreed that the matches be held in Seoul on August 15, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

“We extend warm compatriotic greetings to your organizations (the South Korean trade unions) making devoted efforts to spur the national reconciliation and unity and achieve independent reunification,” the North’s Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea said.
