Former S.Korean Kaesong workers protest in Seoul

Workers complain of communication issue, failure to pay compensation since closure

Former workers of the Kaesong Industrial Complex (KIC), the former inter-Korean economic zone in Kaesong, North Korea, gathered in central Seoul on Friday, saying they have not received promised compensation and that getting help is often more complicated than the government claims.

Wearing red bandanas and shaving their heads in protest, the workers shared their often emotional stories as popular protest songs originating from the democratic activist period of the 1980s filled the scene, as did signs criticizing the government.
