U.S. passes new North Korean sanctions into law

New bill targets financial institutions, proliferation, luxury goods, human rights and cyber attacks

U.S. President Obama on Thursday signed new legislation which will impose a new set of sanctions on North Korea, in the wake of a recent nuclear test and satellite launch.

The newly passed H.R. 757 North Korea Sanctions Enforcement Act consists of 25 sections covering new and updated sanctions targeted at North Korea’s financial and proliferation networks, the provision of luxury goods, human rights violations and the threat North Korea poses to cyber-security.
