Updated satellite imagery and photos taken from Dandong show North Korea’s newly opened tourist zone at Sinuiju, which allows Dandong residents to make visa-free day trips to the DPRK.

The images show that much of the work on the zone was completed between March and September last year, including a 180-meter long building facing the water front.

“They almost finished building that one (by October last year) … that building is for tourists,” Lee Chang-ju, a Ph.D candidate at Fudan University, who studies the Sino-North Korea border area told NK News.
