China’s Foreign Ministry did not confirm reports from state media which claimed Chinese traders in Dandong had been blocked from importing North Korean coal.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying answered a question on the issue as part of her regular briefing yesterday.

“On your second question (concerning coal imports), I am not aware of the specifics. The UN Security Council is deliberating on the new resolution against the DPRK. As a responsible country, China always acts in strict accordance with relevant Security Council resolutions and fulfills its due international obligations,” Hua said.
