Seoul on Wednesday spoke of the need to deploy the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system on the Korean Peninsula.

China responded on the same day by showing concern over its deployment.

During the presidential statement released on Wednesday, President Park Geun-hye said the government will review the need for the deployment of THAAD should the increased threat of North Korea’s nuclear weapons and missiles endanger South Korean lives.

“South Korean security and national interest are the only two criteria that we will consider should we deploy THAAD in future,” Park said.
