News N.Korean university reaches finals of intl. programming contestNorth Korean universities have posted good results in competitions – at least when they show up
Students from Kim Il Sung University, North Korea’s top institution of higher learning, have received the opportunity to participate in the finals of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) in Phuket, Thailand from May 15-20. The ICPC is an international programming competition sponsored by IBM. The state-run Rodong Sinmun newspaper reported the news on January 17, saying three students majoring in mathematics and one student majoring in physics won two gold awards and two speed awards at the regional competition. According to the ICPC’s website, Kim Il Sung University’s team, referred to as “RNS,” finished 15th out of 198 teams. © Korea Risk Group. All rights reserved. |
