AFP signs agreement to establish North Korean bureau

The agency's Pyongyang office will focus on picture and video, hiring two KCNA staff

Agence France-Presse (AFP) signed an agreement with Pyongyang’s state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Tuesday in Paris. The AFP will open its bureau in Pyongyang by the middle of this year.

AFP will hire two full-time North Korean journalists who will work under the supervision of the agency’s Asia regional management. AFP’s foreign correspondents will be dispatched to Pyongyang regularly.
