The South Korean Ministry of National Defense (MND) has decided to broaden its compensation provided to injured South Korean troops.

Over last few weeks, the MND has been harshly criticized over regulations preventing the full support of South Korean service members who chose be admitted into private hospitals for treatment for their injuries.

Currently, the South Korean military only compensates military patients for 30 days of stay in a private hospital. The government also provides a maximum compensation of 8 million Korean won (around $6,900) that those who have suffered a lost limb can use for prosthetic arms or legs.
