Pyongyang has not offered any condolences for former South Korean President Kim Young-sam, who died last Saturday, the reasons for which may date back to a wound from 1994 when Kim Il Sung passed away.

The main North Korean media outlets, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) and Rodong Sinmun, have not acknowledged his death at all.

Kim Young-sam, inaugurated in 1993, was South Korea’s first civilian president following decades of military rule. North Korean founder Kim Il Sung, then in his early 80s, was due to hold a summit with Kim Young-sam in July 25, 1994, but this
