Little hope for improvement in inter-Korean relations: Researcher

Visit by UN Secretary General would have little effect even if it took place

Recent disputes between South and North Korea indicate that inter-Korean relations face a long, cold winter.

Son Gi-woong, a researcher at the Korea Institute for National Unification (KINU), told NK News that inter-Korean ties have little hope of getting any better.

On Tuesday, Tongil News reported that the South Korean NGO Council for Cooperation with North Korea’s visit to Pyongyang has been postponed, just a day before their planned departure to North Korea.

The Northern branch of the jointly run Korean Council for Reconciliation and Cooperation said that the meeting had been cancelled due to a “certain situation,” without elaborating.

“We
