S.Korean politicians accuse textbooks of promoting Juche

Opposition party, history professors decry government's aim to create 'Correct Textbook' through interference

South Korean conservatives have spoken in favor of a government-designated history textbook, claiming those currently used in public high schools promote North Korea’s ruling ideology.

The ruling Saenuri Party on Tuesday hung a banner reading “Our children are learning Kim Il Sung’s Juche ideology” in front of the National Assembly building in Seoul. Party chairman Kim Moo-seong said last week that the current history textbook used nationwide is teaching Juche.
