Amid the ongoing confrontation between South and North Korea over the mine explosion and propaganda broadcasts, media from both Koreas are reporting on young soldiers volunteering to extend their military service.

For now several days, South Korean reserve forces have been posting pictures of themselves in uniform on Facebook, saying, “We are waiting for the order, please call me.”

John Grisafi, NK News director of intelligence, said similar sentiments arose after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in the U.S.

“However, that was an actual attack with many civilian causalities and major shock, thus the current situation in Korea is very different,” he said.
